SALSA & STYLE: CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF THE CHICAGO INTERNATIONAL SALSA CONGRESS
Live salsa, high-fashion runway, cocktails, community — all inside Macy’s on State Street. A night where rhythm meets couture.
The heartbeat of Afro-Latin dance in the U.S.
For 25 years, the Chicago International Salsa Congress has moved the culture forward. Behind every rhythm and spark on the dance floor there’s a story — and it begins with Saladeen Alamin.
Born in the early 1940s, Saladeen grew up amid the rise of Afro-Latin music, where Cuban rhythms and jazz fused to move a generation. From a young age he carried a natural rhythm and a drive to connect people through movement.
His vision led him from Puerto Rico to Chicago, where he planted the seeds of the Chicago International Salsa Congress — a stage that has celebrated culture, rhythm, and community for a quarter century. Now, you can be part of this story.
